TOSHIBA RECEIVES FDA CLEARANCE FOR ADVANCED M-POWER INTERFACE

Customizable User Interface Streamlines and Accelerates Imaging Process

TUSTIN, Calif., Sept. 21, 2011 – Increasing MR exam efficiency, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc’s. advanced M-Power interface has received FDA clearance. M-Power is a customizable MR system user interface enabling technologists to streamline and accelerate scanning processes and enhance diagnoses. M-Power will be available for use on Toshiba’s Vantage Atlas™, Vantage Titan™ 1.5 and Titan 3T MR systems with an upgrade path for those systems already installed.

M-Power runs the MR system, offering a simple interface for the entire imaging process. M-Power has many new enhanced efficiency tools:

• Ease of Use – M-Power reduces the number of steps necessary to start a procedure, improving department efficiency. Key parameters have been strategically organized to minimize user searching and mouse movement. The look and feel of the user interface is designed to enhance the user’s experience and workflow. Additionally, with mTools, clinicians can personalize workflow with the ability to drag and drop the most frequently used scanning tools into the mTool bar for easy access.

• Atlas Compass – The Atlas Compass software automates coil selection and turns on the proper coil elements needed for a specific exam. Beneficial for abdominal, spine and lumbar imaging, this feature eliminates guesswork in patient positioning and coil element selection.

• 3D Volume Imaging Applications – mVOX, a volume imaging acquisition sequence that will be available for neuro and orthopedic volume imaging applications, allows acquisition of all 3D imaging planes to be acquired at one time, streamlining the imaging process and reducing exam times.

“M-Power makes Toshiba’s sophisticated suite of MR software easy to learn and use, allowing technologists of every skill level to access the system’s full range of functionality,” said Stuart Clarkson, director, MR Business Unit, Toshiba. “MR technologists are now able to design their own protocols and easily access mTools for greater convenience and productivity.”
