Study overview:
- 203 male patients with PI-RADS >2
- Transperineal prostate biopsy under local anaesthesia in an outpatient setting
- Canon Medical Aplio i800 with MR/US smart fusion software
Results:
- Cancer detection rate: Overall: 73.5% | Clinically significant: 60.1%
- Procedure duration: 22.5 min (≤15 min without systematic biopsy)
- Patient tolerance: Discomfort biopsy core sampling rated 1.6/10 (similar to lying on exam table: 1.5/10)
Conclusion:
Transperineal targeted biopsy with MRI-TRUS fusion software has high overall and clinically significant cancer detection rates. The method is well tolerated under local anaesthesia and in an outpatient setting.
