Company Donates More Than $80,000 in Equipment to Help Uninsured Community
TUSTIN/IRVINE, Calif., May 12, 2006 –Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc., Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. and Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. today donated more than $80,000 in much-needed advanced technology equipment to Partners for Healing clinic (PFH) in Tullahoma, Tenn., as part of “Live with Regis and Kelly’s” 16th annual “Mom’s Dream Come True” special. Five extraordinary women will be honored on the program, “Live’s” annual Mother’s Day tradition. The donation, which was spurred by a letter to show producers from the daughter of PFH’s co-founder, included a NemioTM ultrasound system, an e-STUDIOTM202L multifunction copier and four Portégé M400 Tablet PCs, each provided by its respective Toshiba division.
“All of the physicians and volunteers at Partners for Healing are so grateful to Toshiba for its generous contribution,” said Dot Watson, PFH co-founder, volunteer and the featured “Live” Mom. “For years, we’ve relied on the donations of outdated equipment from local hospitals, and now we have the latest and most advanced technology available to provide the best possible care to our community. Partners for Healing is dedicated to providing free medical care to middle Tennessee’s working uninsured population, and we run largely on charitable grants and donations. A contribution like this truly is a dream come true.”
“As a technology leader known around the world, having the opportunity to help such a deserving facility like Partners for Healing was a tremendous honor for Toshiba,” said Gordon Parhar, director of the Ultrasound Business Unit at Toshiba America Medical Systems who made the equipment presentation to PFH. “The contributions of each of these pieces of Toshiba technology will undoubtedly help this already worthwhile facility improve the delivery of healthcare to the uninsured and better run their charity, which falls right in line with Toshiba’s mission for its customers.”
