The Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition is Toshiba Medical’s latest area detector system offering dynamic volume CT imaging that is sharper, faster and smaller.

Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition Marks 10-Year History of Leadership in Area Detector CT

TUSTIN, Calif., July 7, 2017 – Transforming the path to diagnosis for healthcare providers and their patients, Toshiba Medical, a Canon Group company, is showcasing its premium AquilionTM ONE / GENESIS Edition CT system at this year’s Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) annual meeting in Washington, D.C., July 6–9, 2017 (Booth #301). The Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition is Toshiba Medical’s latest area detector system offering dynamic volume CT imaging that is sharper, faster and smaller.

The Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition features an optimized beam spectrum based on PUREViSION Optics, PUREViSION detector and FIRST (MBIR). This helps improve high-contrast spatial resolution while reducing radiation dose up to 82.4 percent as compared to filtered back projection and drastically cuts the time needed for model-based CT image reconstruction. With AIDR 3D reconstruction times up to 80 images per second and FIRST reconstruction achieved in as little as three minutes per volume (320 images), exams are faster for patients. The system also has the ability to perform Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMAR) for cardiac exams, improving visualization for a clearer and more confident diagnosis. Additionally, the system is small, light and consumes less power, fitting into a footprint of only 204 square feet (19 square meters) with a short bore, flared design and 30-degree tilting gantry.

“The Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition sets a new standard in patient care and provides healthcare providers with the technology that meets their needs,” said Dominic Smith, senior director, CT, PET/CT, and MR Business Units, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. “For the past decade, Toshiba Medical has continued to deliver flexible and innovative solutions that make CT exams safer, address patient comfort and deliver high-resolution images for providers to make confident diagnoses.”
