SHORE MEDICAL CENTER LOWERS RADIATION DOSE WITH TOSHIBA CT SYSTEM

Aquilion PRIME Improves Diagnostic Confidence for Greater Efficiency, Safer Exams

TUSTIN, Calif., Nov. 7, 2012 – To image all patients, from pediatric to bariatric, with the lowest possible radiation dose, Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, N.J., installed the Aquilion™ PRIME 160 with AIDR 3D from Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. Shore Medical Center utilizes Aquilion PRIME for all general and outpatient radiology exams.

“Many of our patients are concerned about radiation and our new Aquilion PRIME helps put them at ease,” said Kerry Raymond, CT Supervisor, Shore Medical Center. “We are now imaging patients with significantly lower radiation dose.”

Aquilion PRIME, an 80-detector row CT system, can generate 160 unique slices per rotation. The system features AIDR 3D, Toshiba’s third-generation iterative dose reconstruction software, which incorporates an easy to implement iterative reconstruction process, reducing radiation dose compared with conventional scanning.

“Patient safety is always top of mind as we develop technologies that improve diagnoses and make exams easier for our customers,” said Satrajit Misra, senior director, CT Business Unit, Toshiba. “In addition, patient-friendly features like a 78-cm gantry and high table-weight limit help streamline exams for facilities and improve quality of life for patients.”
