TUSTIN, California — June 25, 2008 — Enhancing its flexibility in providing medical imaging solutions for large hospitals and healthcare networks across the country, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. announced a strategic business agreement with PinnacleHealth, a non-profit hospital and healthcare system in Central Pennsylvania.
For the next five years, 85 percent of PinnacleHealth’s newly acquired medical imaging systems will come from Toshiba’s full product portfolio including CT, Interventional Labs, X-ray, Ultrasound and MRI.
“Toshiba’s strategic business agreement offers PinnacleHealth the most advanced technology available,” stated Phil Guarneschelli, chief operating officer, PinnacleHealth. “By partnering with Toshiba, PinnacleHealth is creating commonality of equipment within all our facilities, which helps increase patient care by streamlining workflow and training for technologists and physicians.”
PinnacleHealth, located in Harrisburg, PA, offers services from prenatal to geriatrics throughout its multiple locations. The first phase of purchases for PinnacleHealth include $14.5 million in Toshiba medical imaging equipment, including five MR systems, five CT systems, 11 Ultrasound systems and eight X-ray systems. One of the CT systems to be acquired by PinnacleHealth is the revolutionary Toshiba Aquilion ONETM, the world’s first dynamic volume CT system with 320 detector rows of coverage. It is the only CT system that can image up to 16 cm of anatomical coverage in one rotation.
“Adding the capability of strategic business partnerships allows Toshiba to increasingly meet the needs of large hospitals and healthcare networks,” said Jeff Howorth, vice president, Strategic Business Group, Toshiba. “This agreement with PinnacleHealth is a testament to Toshiba’s strong product portfolio, creative financing with Toshiba’s captive finance division, and unparalleled customer service, which provides customers with industry leading technology and support across the modalities we serve.”
Through these exclusive business agreements, Toshiba also provides value added services such as consulting engagements, productivity and efficiency solutions, and marketing services for the hospital.
