DELNOR-COMMUNITY HOSPITAL ACQUIRES TOSHIBA TECHNOLOGY

Purchase of Six Aplio Ultrasound Systems Broaden Clinical Capabilities

TUSTIN, Calif., August 7, 2006 — Strengthening its position as a leader in the ultrasound market, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. today announced the successful installation of six Aplio™ ultrasound systems at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. The new Aplio systems allow clinicians at the hospital, and the new Center for Breast Health on the Delnor campus, to expand imaging capabilities and improve overall diagnostic confidence when evaluating patients or conducting complex interventional procedures.

Delnor, which performs nearly 13,000 ultrasound procedures every year, is using the Aplio ultrasound systems as a complement to its existing mammography program and for a wide range of procedures, including vascular and endovaginal examinations and image-guided procedures, such as breast and thyroid biopsies.

According to Joseph Persak, M.D., director of medical imaging at Delnor-Community Hospital, the rigorous selection process included evaluation of several competitive ultrasound systems using side-by-side image comparisons to ensure that the system selected met the center’s diverse needs. “It was apparent right away the Aplio was superior during breast imaging — due in large part to the DTHI (Differential Tissue Harmonic Imaging) and ADF (Advanced Dynamic Flow) imaging technology. I can’t tell you how much more confident I feel about my diagnosis using the Aplio systems.”

Designed to improve workflow and boost productivity with advanced features such as the award-winning i-Assist BluetoothT remote controller and a fully customer-configurable control panel, the Aplio delivers exceptional diagnostic confidence with proprietary DTHI and ADF technologies.
