Transforming Access

Innovation starts with listening.

In 1994, Dr. John Cheatham challenged imaging manufacturers to rethink the biplane system for pediatric cardiology. Most cath lab systems were designed for adult interventions, leaving the unique needs of children with complex heart conditions underserved.

Canon embraced that challenge, partnering with Dr. Cheatham and his team to develop the award-winning 5-axis biplane system. First installed at Nationwide Children's Hospital in 2005, it became a milestone in pediatric cath lab design.

“From the moment we began using the system, the difference was obvious. The five-axis positioning technology and 180-degree free-standing floor design gave us a level of flexibility we had never experienced before. It changed the way we approached procedures, and it remains one of the most impactful innovations I've seen in the cath lab.” *
