Annual Event Identifies Healthcare Products that Improve Patient Outcomes and Enhance Patient and Provider Safety

TUSTIN, Calif., Nov. 18, 2014 Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. announced that its Dose Tracking System (DTS) was awarded the coveted Innovative Technology designation by Novation at its Innovative Technology Expo on Sept. 10, 2014, at the Irving Convention Center, Irving, Texas.

Toshiba’s DTS, which is available for its entire Infinix™ product line, including the Elite, Select and Essential cardiovascular X-ray systems, provides a real-time display that tracks cumulative skin dose distribution, as well as peak skin dose, to provide a safer exam for patients. In addition, enhancements such as expanded bi-plane (frontal and lateral) coverage and enhanced ability to account for tilt and cradle table movement help clinicians track and measure peak skin dose, giving customers the confidence that they are providing the safest, best approach to diagnoses and treatment.

DTS was awarded the Innovative Technology designation following a review by more than 200 attendees from hospitals around the United States who serve on a Novation council or task force and participated in the expo. These key opinion leaders indicated that Toshiba’s DTS offered incremental benefits over other products available on the market.

“Toshiba’s DTS helps provide a safer patient exam, allowing clinicians to focus on accurate diagnosis and better care,” said Olya Carter, RN and Senior Clinical Manager at Novation. “DTS’s 85 percent approval rating from attendees reflects the technology’s benefit to patient safety and its effectiveness.”

“Our customers rely on fast, accurate data to make real-time diagnoses and decisions,” said David Sloop, director, X-ray Vascular Business Unit, Toshiba. “DTS is a first-of-its-kind technology that improves patient safety and experience, as well as giving clinicians confidence that their decisions are backed by solid data to keep their patients safe and procedures effective.”

This new designation will also identify Toshiba’s Dose Tracking System as an awarded Innovative Technology product within Novation’s online contract catalog, which is accessible by the more than 100,000 members and affiliates of VHA Inc., UHC, Children’s Hospital Association and Provista served by Novation. This heightened visibility will encourage further consideration by members accessing this agreement.
