TOSHIBA NAMES TOMO HASEGAWA DIRECTOR OF ULTRASOUND BUSINESS UNIT

TUSTIN, Calif., June 17, 2010 – Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. today announced that Tomo Hasegawa has been named director, Ultrasound Business Unit. As the new director, Hasegawa will be responsible for implementing tactical and strategic marketing plans to drive growth and profitability. He will also interface with Toshiba’s global business unit at Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation (TMSC) in Japan to communicate the needs and requirements of the U.S. market.

“Tomo has a broad range of experience in ultrasound engineering, research and development, marketing, sales and management,” said Doug Ryan, vice president, Marketing and Strategic Development, Toshiba. “His experience working in the U.S. and Japan and his proven track record of leadership success make him a great fit for our company and the ultrasound organization.”

Hasegawa has 25 years of experience in the medical imaging industry. Most recently, he served as director of Strategic Marketing for SonoSite, Inc., where he focused on developing strategic growth initiatives.

“Toshiba’s ultrasound product line has a solid reputation in the industry and despite last year’s capital freeze at many healthcare institutions, the business grew significantly,” said Hasegawa. “Toshiba’s ultrasound business has strong positive momentum, and I am truly excited to be on board to help take the organization to the next level.”

Hasegawa has an Executive MBA with honors from the University of Washington in Seattle and a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.
