TOSHIBA AND MCKESSON SHOWCASE ULTRASOUND MULTIVIEW OFF-LINE REVIEW WORKSTATION SOFTWARE AT RSNA

New Workstation Software Improves Image Reconstruction and Patient Throughput

CHICAGO — November 28, 2007 — As part of an ongoing partnership to deliver the industry’s best workstation and applications products, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. will feature its Ultrasound Multiview Off-line Review Workstation software, developed in collaboration with McKesson Corp., at this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 25–30, 2007 (Booth # 7130).

The Ultrasound Multiview Off-line Review Workstation software package is used to load 4-D data acquired from Toshiba’s Aplio™ XG and Xario™ XG ultrasound systems into a McKesson Corp. PACS workstation for browsing and reconstruction of the images off-line. By using the PACS workstation for image reconstruction, the ultrasound system can now be used strictly for image acquisition, allowing for more efficient use of the modality and shortening patient wait time in the department. Ultrasound image post processing on the PACS workstation is done at the sonographer’s convenience, either immediately after the scan or at a later time. This results in workflow enhancements for technologists, medical staff and better quality patient care.

“Toshiba values the partnership created with McKesson to provide the industry with the highest level of customer service and patient care,” said Gordon Parhar, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba. “This workstation enables ultrasound technologists to view and reconstruct images off-line, creating higher image quality and a more streamlined procedure.”

Toshiba’s Ultrasound Multiview Off-line Review Workstation software provides a seamless viewing environment for technologists, resulting in improved image quality, a unified workflow and better patient diagnosis. Existing customers of the Aplio XG and Xario XG ultrasound systems can easily upgrade to the new workstation and utilize off-line image acquisition capabilities.

“The strength of our partnership lies in McKesson’s innovation in image data management and Toshiba’s clinical expertise addressing the many needs of hospitals and imaging facilities,” said Rod O’Reilly, vice president and general manager of McKesson’s Medical Imaging Group. “Along with Toshiba, we are committed to quality service, support and providing a positive user experience.”
